A Sony 1 ii compact would have been fantastic. Alas. Not exactly, if it's anything like its predecessor it will be a successor to XZ/XZ1/XZ2/XZ3/5, not to the deceased Compact line. 5 line is the defacto sucessor to the compact line.

Xperia 1 ii user here, nothing in particular to report, got it since November 2021, even tho bootloader is unlocked and I'm rooted, go for it. Yeah, nearly 2 years with it. Charged battery overnight staying whole day. Pretty common use survives with ~30-40%, light use ~50-65%.
